Mrs Crimbles-Dutch Apple Cake This cake is naturally low in fat, and contains lots of real fruit, with apple flavour and cinnamon to give it a unique taste and a lovely moist texture. This cake is great on it's own but it's also scrummy with a dollop of clotted cream or some custard. We have also found on our travels to the West Country that this cake goes particularly well with a glass of traditional cider!As the cake has a very low fat and moisture content it freezes really well. Whilst this cake is wheat free it is not gluten-free as it is made with rye which, whilst very low in gluten when compared to normal wheat , is above the levels permitted by the Coeliacs society. As an additional point the fact that these cakes are made without eggs make them perfectly acceptable for those following a Vegan diet.
